Leopardy 2025
Saturday, March 8, 2025

Hello, Leopardy Attendees and Welcome to Leopardy 2025!

Leopardy is a great community event and promises to once again be a challenge and a good time! Everyone is encouraged to have a fun and safe evening. If your evening includes alcohol, please plan ahead by arranging a reliable ride home (designated driver, Uber, Lyft, taxi).

Below is everything you need to know about Leopardy:

  • Event takes place on campus in the Solomon Athletic Center
  • Bring-your-own-everything event (food, beverage, paper products, etc.)
  • Tables: maximum of 10 people. Tables are 6’ rounds; plastic table covers will be provided. Side tables are not permitted
  • Doors open - 6:00 p.m.
  • All tables ready to go - 6:15 p.m.
  • First round of Leopardy - 6:30 p.m. sharp
  • Leopardy concludes - approximately 10:30 p.m.
  • Clean-up/depart - 10:45 p.m.

Dress Code
Dress code is casual. Because this is a “bring-your-own-everything” event, many groups (tables) pick a theme for their table, including décor and costumes. This is optional.

Arrival and Setup
Doors to the Solomon Athletic Center open at 6:00 p.m. The first representative to arrive from each group will check in at the registration table to pick up your table packet. Please arrive promptly to get settled and set up your table. Due to space constraints, tables will be close together, so please bring only items that will fit on or underneath your table. Side tables are not permitted and there will not be extra tables lining the auditorium walls. This event is “bring your own food and drink” and as mentioned above, some tables select a theme for their table.

As you are setting up your table, please send one representative from your group to the stage to register your team name (see Format for the Evening section below). It is important that everyone is ready to begin by 6:30 p.m., as we will have some things to do in advance of the start of the first round at 8:00 p.m.

Purchase of Mulligans
Tables may purchase up to five mulligans online or at the beginning of the evening. The cost of mulligans is $20 each, or five for $100. If you would like to purchase mulligans, please bring CASH only to the front table when you register your team. You will be given a sticker for each mulligan.

Mulligans represent a second guess at an answer. They DO NOT represent automatic points for a question. To use a mulligan, simply place a sticker next to the answer on your answer sheet, and you may then write in two answers for that item. If one of the answers is correct, you will receive the points for that answer. Mulligans may NOT be used for Final Leopardy.

Format for the Evening and Scoring
Your Table Packet - When the first person from your table registers, they will receive a packet with a table number on it. For other team members, please check in and receive your table number from one of the registration volunteers. Inside your packet is everything you’ll need to play Leopardy.

1.  Tie-breaker Sheet - In the event of a tie, we will use this as the tie-breaker to determine the winner. Please enter your team’s name and table number at the top. Enter the TOTAL number of points you think you’ll finish the evening with. A perfect score tonight is 1500 points. Please hand this sheet in to the scoring table by 7:30.

2. Answer Sheets - Next, you will have 10 sequential answer sheets. Each sheet has the category number and spaces for each category’s answers. Please write your team name and number of each, and hand in the appropriate sheet after each round. Please keep the sheets in order in your packet to ensure you turn in the correct form each round.

3. Final Leopardy Bid Sheet - Before Final Leopardy, the hosts will display each team’s current score and the category for Final Leopardy. You can bid up to the total amount of your current points at the end of Double Leopardy. Please write your team’s name, number, and total bid and hand in to the scorer’s table or runners.

4. Final Leopardy Answer Sheet - Please write the answer to Final Leopardy, and don’t forget to include your table name and number on the sheet.

Scoring                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Each of the first five categories in Single Leopardy will be worth a maximum of 50 points. Each of the five categories in Double Leopardy will be worth a maximum of 100 points.

The topics will be a combination of audio/visual or text questions that are presented on the overhead screen on the stage or on a handout. Teams will write their answers on a provided answer sheet and hand in that answer sheet to the scoring table at the end of each category. Unlike Jeopardy, answers do not have to be in the form of a question.

Handing in Your Answer Sheet
At the end of each round of questions, one person from each group will be responsible for bringing the scoring sheet to the volunteer runners or scoring table to hand it in. We will display a time clock for this on the overhead projector. Scoring sheets not handed in to the scoring table before the time expires will receive a score of zero for that round. The running scores for each team will be posted on a screen behind the scoring table after every round.

Bidding on Final Leopardy
Leopardy follows the typical “Jeopardy” format, with five categories of 10 questions each for Single Leopardy, and five categories of 10 questions each for Double Leopardy. There will be a short break between Single Leopardy and Double Leopardy. The event ends with a single Final Leopardy question. The topic for Final Leopardy will be posted; teams will submit their “bids” – the number of points they would like to wager on the final question – and then will see and answer the final question.

Additional Rules
We ask that all Internet-enabled devices be turned off. If you must make a phone call, please leave the auditorium to do so. Internet-enabled devices may give the perception of cheating, which is strictly prohibited.
The answers, as stated on the overhead projector after each round, are the answers which will be accepted for each question. Event hosts have the final say; please do not argue with them about the answers.
The evening will conclude at approximately 10:30 p.m. At that time, the winning team will be recognized with a prize. The building must be vacated no later than 11:00 p.m., so please be prompt and thorough in cleaning up your table and discarding your trash in designated receptacles. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated by the event hosts and the Langley Facilities team.
